(Shusha, August 30, 2021)  –Vagif Poetry Days were reorganized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation on August 30, 2021 in the poet's hometown. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva attended the official opening of the Vagif Poetry Days.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the head of state stressed that the celebration of the opening of the Vagif Poetry Days in front of the mausoleum of the great Azerbaijani poet, statesman, vizier of the Karabakh khan Molla Panah Vagif was a significant day in the life of our country. He informed the participants that the mausoleum of Vagif, like all other historical monuments, was subjected to Armenian vandalism in the occupied territories, was fully restored after the liberation, and today is the second opening of the mausoleum.

Later, Molla Panah said that the decision to erect the mausoleum of Vagif in Shusha was made by National Leader Heydar Aliyev, and the opening of the mausoleum here on January 14, 1982 in snowy and frosty weather was not an ordinary event. He noted in his speech that the mausoleum was erected as a result of the will and determination of the Great Leader and that Shusha was recognized as an Azerbaijani city at that time.

After Mr. President's speech, the floor was given to artists. In their speeches, they also thanked President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva for reviving the Vagif Mausoleum, erected by the Great Leader and destroyed by vandals, after the occupation.

Then, President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva got acquainted with the exhibitions "Karabakh is a Pearl of Azerbaijani Culture" and "Again in the Homeland: Pearls of Karabakh Art" organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation as part of the Vagif Poetry Days.
