The first visit of Shusha residents to the city took place

(Shusha, August 19, 2021) - Today, 50 Shusha residents have the opportunity to see their homeland for the first time since the liberation of the city. The visit, jointly organized by the President's Special Representation in Shusha and the Shusha City State Reserve, was attended by representatives of the older generation, Karabakh veterans and intellectuals of the city. Welcoming the people of Shusha, Chairman of the Board of the Shusha City State Reserve Maftun Abbasov noted that today will remain an important day in the history of the city: “I am sure that seeing Shusha after 29 years of longing is a great event for you. You were the first residents to return to Shusha, which was liberated thanks to the "Iron Fist" operation of Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and the bravery of our Army, and after some time all Shusha residents will be able to return to their hometowns. " Maftun Abbasov said that the damage caused to the city by Armenian vandals can be seen on every street and in every house. Nevertheless, in accordance with the city's Master Plan, the city's restoration and reconstruction work is in full swing, streets and parks are being renovated, the city's vital infrastructure is being replaced, historical monuments are being restored, and dilapidated areas are being rebuilt. From this point of view, the process of transforming Shusha into a modern city has begun, provided that the historical dress is preserved.

Later, Shusha residents visited the statues of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Khurshidbanu Natavan and Bulbul, the Upper and Lower Govhar Agha mosques, which are the symbols of the city and were shot down by the Armenian Armed Forces during the occupation of Shusha in 1992.

At the end of the visit, residents had the opportunity to visit their homes.
